The primary responsibilities for the health educator for the health department include: coordinator for the Chronic Disease Primary Prevention contract, coordinator for the H.E.A.R.T grant, working on the MCH (Maternal Child Health) contract, working on the childcare consultation contract, do the Monthly Monitor newsletter each month, providing resources and education to the community, and serving on several coalitions and councils in Howell County.
- Project Activities for CDPP
- Consult with Texas County on Chronic Disease Contract.
- Work with physicians to screen for tobacco use& increase the number of patients who seeks cessation services.
- Increase the number of places that offer physical activity- in coordination with grant- and promote existing walking trails via formation of a map for Howell County.
- Implement community-wide education program in Howell County per the TX county campaign.
- Work with youth group to address and be advocates for physical activity and nutrition issues.
- Project Activities-to introduce a multi-level program designed to access the primary risk factors for poor nutrition, physical inactivity, and smoking in Howell County. Including education material, smoking cessation classes, and free screenings like cholesterol.
