A) Review community health status indicators, including primary and secondary data, reveals the following problems: 1. Spousal/partner abuse 2. Uninsured population, ages 19 and below 3. Motor vehicle accidents 4. Unintentional injuries 5. Drug and alcohol poisonings 6. Self inflicted injuries, ages 20-64 7. Heart & Ischemic heart disease 8. Stroke and other cerebrovascular disease 9. Lung cancer 10. CODP 11. Smoking attributable deaths 12. Alzheimer’s disease 13. Mental, Affective and Alcohol related disorders 14. Births to mothers 15-19 15. Mothers with less than 12 years of education 16. Mothers more than 15% underweight for their height 17. Mothers smoking during pregnancy] 18. Cervical cancer 19. High rate of hysterectomies
B) Review the Behavior Risk Factor Surveillance System County Level Data reveals the following problems: Review of Howell County’s Behavioral Risk Factors indicates that in the four areas identified, none are noted as being significantly above the state prevalence. However, within the same report, under Cancer Screening, the number of women ages 50-64 having never had a mammogram is within the high range. In addition, in the General category of the report the prevalence of residents with no health coverage is also considered high in relation to the State prevalence percentages.
C) The 3 most significant problems affecting the health status of population within the jurisdiction of the local public health agency are (public health priorities):
